Honoring a Hero: The First Annual Tetrick 22 Tribute Challenge

On November 22, 2025, the community gathered inside C4 Athletics for a morning filled with purpose, pride, and remembrance as we hosted the first-ever Tetrick 22 Tribute Challenge. What began as a simple workout to honor Fallen Cleveland Firefighter Johnny Tetrick grew into a meaningful community event that blended fitness, storytelling, and shared resilience.

Firefighter Johnny Tetrick devoted 27 years to serving the City of Cleveland, with 25 of those years spent proudly at Station 22. He was known for his unwavering faith, dedication, love of fitness, and deep commitment to his daughters and to the fire service. After his tragic passing in the line of duty on I-90, local firefighters created a workout in his memory: 22 exercises for 22 reps, symbolic of his station number and the strength he carried into every call.

This year, that workout evolved into a public tribute—one that brought together first responders, veterans, athletes, families, and supporters from across Northeast Ohio. The atmosphere inside C4 Athletics was a mix of determination and heart. Participants pushed through their repetitions at their own pace, some fighting back tears, others smiling as they remembered Johnny’s energy and spirit. What stood out most was the sense of unity: everyone moving with purpose, bound by a shared desire to honor a hero.

The event had a celebratory feel as well. A live DJ kept the energy high, local vendors provided food and merchandise, and the Tetrick family, including Johnny’s daughter Regan, connected with participants throughout the morning. It was powerful to see people from so many backgrounds come together, many of whom didn’t personally know Johnny but felt called to honor his legacy and support those who serve on the front lines of our communities.

All proceeds from the tribute challenge will support Frontline to Field’s mission of providing mental health programming for veterans, first responders, and youth athletes. The event not only honored Johnny’s memory but also fueled ongoing efforts to support the mental resilience of those who protect and serve.

The overwhelming turnout and heartfelt participation made one thing clear: the Tetrick 22 Tribute Challenge is the beginning of a new tradition. We are deeply grateful for everyone who showed up, moved with intention, and helped carry Johnny’s legacy forward. His spirit was felt in every rep, every conversation, and every moment shared.

Thank you for being part of something meaningful. We can’t wait to continue growing this tribute for years to come.
