From Grant to Gratitude: A Day on the Water Honoring Our Heroes

Updated: Oct 8, 2025

Thanks to the incredible support of the MLB Cleveland Guardians Military Grant, Frontline to Field had the opportunity to turn funding into unforgettable memories.

On July 2, 2025, we chartered two boats out of Lake Erie with the help of DB Sport Fishing Charter, creating a full day of connection, adventure, and healing for local veterans and their families. For many, it was their first time out on the water in years—if not ever—and the excitement was as big as the lake itself.

We fished until we hit our limit, sharing laughter, camaraderie, and stories in between every cast. But the real magic happened once we returned to shore.

With generous support from Mission BBQ in Mentor, we gathered for an incredible meal—slow-cooked, smoky, and made with heart. As we sat together under the summer sun, we listened. Veterans opened up about their experiences, their transitions, their triumphs and challenges. The conversations were raw, real, and powerful.

This day wasn’t just about fishing or food—it was about community, connection, and honoring the stories that often go unheard. It's exactly the kind of impact the Guardians envisioned when awarding the Military Grant, and we’re proud to have brought it to life.

We’re endlessly grateful to the Cleveland Guardians, DB Sport Fishing Charter, and Mission BBQ, and most of all—to the veterans and families who continue to inspire everything we do.

This was more than a day on the lake. It was a reminder of why our mission matters. And thanks to the grant, it became a reality.
